This Samsui painting brings back memories in my late 20s as a construction worker.
I met a Samsui woman who shared her story of murdering her husband in China. It doesn't matter if her story is true or not, but it haunted me for a long time.
Ang Lai Seng is a self-taught artist, trained when he served time for a run against the law. Since then he remains with Canvas Art and is currently under the mentorship with local artist Justin Lee. His current work depicted his difficulties keeping up socially with technological advancement. He found himself forgotten in the society left behind due to aging resistance to the technology. His recent painting is about his fear and apprehension upon returning to society. Art is his sanctuary to keep him claim and safe as he slowly adapt back society.
