About the artist: 邱少华/Qiu Shao Hua

Qiu Shao Hua is an internationally known calligrapher, calligraphy theorist and educator.

He was once the calligraphy instructor of National University of Singapore, National Institute of Education, International Arts Council, National society of Policy Research, and other government departments. He is always relentless in the promotion of Chinese culture and calligraphy arts. Apart from education, he also often helps NGOs conduct workshops and demonstrations.

He is the only person in Singapore to teach calligraphy through English, and he once written a book “The History of Chinese Calligraphy” in complete English and has 26 English-Chinese books under his name. At the same time, he was the first local calligrapher to be invited for an exhibition tour to the United States, Canada and China. He was also featured multiple times in prominent magazines.

He was awarded the “International Book arts Contribution Award”. In 1995, the Shanghai Post and Telecommunications Bureau of China issued a personal first day cover for him, he is the only artist in our country to receive such honor.
